Upper Cape's season one of dodgeball was a succes. 12 teams coming out on chilly Tuesday evenings to have some fun.  CASL is opening registration for season 2. A lot of teams are coming back and they have first dibs, but we know there are room for 2 teams.  We are hoping for another sell out crowd.

THE LEAGUE: Those that are not familar with CASL, we are a social sports league. The idea is to get out, have some fun, meet new people, and take life a little less serious. There will be zero tolerance for poor sportsmanship or frowning in general. You are an adult playing dodgeball, if you are not laughing, then you are doing it wrong. 

SCHEDULE: The games will start at 8:00pm and you will be out of the gym by 10:15 pm.  Games will be Tuesday night at the Boys and Girls Club in Mashpee.  There will be 7 regular season weeks and then playoffs. This brings us to end of January.

THE GAME: Games are played with 6 players on the court. Each team must have at least 2 of each gender on the court to start each game. There are 6 balls set up at the center line. 3 on your side, 3 on the opponents. The ref yells go and each team runs to get the balls on their side. You throw until the other team is out of players. If there is a catch the thrower is out and the team that caught the ball gets a player back. If there is only one player left on each side, there is the famous one on one. Each player starts with 2 balls lined up on their end. There is no center line. The ref yells go, and the last one standing gets a W for their team.  You play one team for 20 minutes, the team with the most wins takes a match win. You play 2 20 minute matches per night. The Dennis league averages about 15 games in these 20 minutes.

ROSTERS: Each team must have a minimum of 3 males and 3 females and a total of 8 players for a valid roster. So the other 2 roster spots can be any combination of male and female.

REGISTRATION: We want everyone to get in the game. You can join as a full team, small group, or come in and meet a bunch of people as an individual free agent. We will combine the small groups and free agents into teams. This is how all of Dennis was built and there have been some amazing friendships formed.  

SUMMARY: Dodgeball is a fun, high paced, high energy game. We use the lighter foam balls, so you can toss them fast, but they do not hurt. We are a welcoming group, so don't hesitate to come on out and give it a try. The league is about making friends and connections, the game is just the common interest that brings us together. 

The fun does not end after the final whistle. We will work with some local restaurants and bars to host post game socials. This is a great way to meet your fellow league members and have a chat while they are not throwing things at you.

This league is most likely to sell out, so in order to officially hold your spot, you must be paid in full. Captains register quickly to hold a spot for your team.
